Annual School Census 2020 through School Information System (SIS)

Programme Monitoring & Implementation Unit, Punjab Education Sector Reform Programme, Government of the Punjab has issued the official Notification letter on 18 October, 2019 in connection with Annual School Census 2020 through School Information System (SIS).

Traditionally, PMIU conducts Annual School Census on October 31st every year through printed forms but in Annual School Census 2018-19, it was conducted through School Information System (SIS). As School Information System (SIS) has matured and almost all schools have entered most Of their data, it has been suggested again to continue collection of digitized data through SIS. Although the SIS data is real time and can be collected anytime through the web portal, yet in order to obtain a complete picture of the sector at a given/cut-off date, a data completion/updation activity an SIS may be conducted simultaneously across the province.

It is, therefore,proposed that a “School Census Day” may be observed on 31st October 2019. On this day, all public schools including Masjid Maktab, Primary, Elementary, Secondary and Higher Secondary will be required to log in to the SIS application in their tablets after teaching hours and submit updated data. All the Districts Education Officials from CEO down to AEOs will be required to personally visit schools and ensure successful completion of the activity. Annual School Census 2020 Phases


1). In Phase 1, all Schools are required to enter and update data starting from 21st October, 2019 till 25th October, 2019.

2). Final phase will start from 26th October 2019 and it will end on 31st October, 2019 for complete Census data submission.

For submission of Annual School Census and Girls Stipend data all school heads must


i). Ensure all SIS input fields (students records, teachers and staff record and school facilities etc) are up to date and accurate by 31st October. After this date, submission of census form Will be locked.

ii). Ensure that all girls stipend related schools of 16 programme districts have marked their girls students from Grade 6 to 10 as registered for CCT (Yes).

iii). Submit the form on 31st October by clicking on the “Submit Census Form” button in SIS App (school census section).

iv). Certify (as part of the submission process) that they have updated the SIS data and submitted the census form electronically on 31st October 2019.

In case of Primary and Elementary schools, the submitted census form will be visible to AEOs in AEO app of SIS. AEOs will validate the data and submit certificate of validation through the AEO app of SIS by 5th November 2019.

After the activity, the Chief Executive Officers will furnish a certificate in writing to the effect that SIS data of all schools under their jurisdiction has been correctly and completely updated on 5th November 2019 and census forms have been submitted and validated electronically by the concerned Head Teachers and AEOs.

In case of High, Higher Secondary schools DMOs are responsible for data validation and DMOs are required to submit certificate of validation electronically by using their SIS dashboard by 5th November 2019

DMOs are responsible for AEO data (Primary and Elementary school data) validation and DMOs are required to submit certificate of validation electronically by using their SIS dashboard by 15th November 2019.

Please ensure that instructions in this regard are timely passed on to relevant officials and school heads.
