Biometric Verification of Bank Accounts in Pakistan for Anti Money Laundering

Government of the Punjab Finance Department has issued the official Notification letter in the matter of compliance of Anti Money Laundering (AML) / Combating the financing of Terrorism (CFT) Regime by Banks / DFIs Biometric verification bank accounts in Pakistan.

It is informed that State Bank of Pakistan has made Biometric Verification of Bank Accounts Mandatory for all customers of Banks vide BPRD Circular letter No.16 of 2019 dated 3-6-2019. A large number of the Government accounts are being maintained in Commercial Banks including Bank of the Punjab.All the government offices were asked to get their accounts (which have been opened with the prior permission of finance department biometric verification done before 30-6-2019. The Bank of the Punjab has now informed  that still a large government accounts have not biometrically verified by their signatories.

It is again requested that those accounts which have been opened with prior permission of finance department and have still not been biometrically verified, may kindly get their biometric done. Last date for biometric verification of bank accounts is 30 September, 2019.
