Conduct of Zero Period and Competitions in Schools Regarding Anti-Dengue & Covid-19

Government of the Punjab, School Education Department (Monitoring Wing) has issued the official Notification letter on 17th September, 2020 in connection with conduct of zero period and competitions in schools regarding anti-dengue and covid-19 measures.

Reference Cabinet Committee meeting held under the Chairpersonship of Minister for Health Department and the Chief Secretary Punjab, on 17-09-2020 at Darbar Hall or Punjab Civil Secretariat, Lahore.

The Secretary School Education gave detailed presentation regarding the measures adopted by the School Education Department. The Chair during meeting reviewed the activities / measures taken by the Department for eradication of dengue and Covid-19 and the Chair while glancing the progress, stressed over the following measures to be taken by all stakeholders:-

  • Cleanliness (premises,toilets, water tanks, roof tops etc.)
  • Display of Dengue related Banners, Posters & Charts
  • Grass Cutting from lawns and grounds
  • Removal of Junks/Debris
  • Removal of Stagnant Water
  • Plugging of water leakages
  • Ban on wearing of Half sleeves shirts
  • Identification of Dengue larvae and larviciding
  • Effective mechanism of Monitoring and Reporting
  • All kinds of spray is banned

The Chair further directed that the following steps shall also be taken regarding anti-dengue and Covid-19:-

i). Conduct of daily Zero period in all public / private schools in Punjab regarding personal hygiene, anti-dengue and Covid-19 measures.

ii). Arrangement of competitions at each Tehsil & District level Including debate and poster competitions on the topics of anti-dengue and safe covid-19 measures, by all schools.

iii). All premises, schools, office buildings must have one registered user and the total No. of users to be registered must be compiled by each Department this week and Informed to PITB on top priority.

I am therefore, directed to request that necessary directions in this regard, may be disseminated to lower formation and all heads of schools (Public/Private) and ensure compliance of above-said directions through respective focal persons / heads of schools, in true letter & spirit under intimation to this Department.
