As per the latest decision taken by the Government of Punjab, Today on 27th September 2023 (Wednesday) has issued the public notice that all the government schools will be closed due to the emergency of Pink Eye Outbreak (Ashob-e-Chashm). The Pink eye infection is a contagious disease and can be transferred from one student to another.
The Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Raza Naqvi, has made an important announcement of long holidays in schools due to the infection of Ashob-e-Chashm spreading throughout Punjab rapidly. He said that all schools in Punjab, including Lahore, will be closed tomorrow, the first holiday will be start from 28th September and and end on 1st October 2023.
All the Schools in Punjab will be reopened on 2nd October 2023.
From the opening date on 2nd Oct 2023, all the students upto matriculation classes will have to go through a health check at the school gates. If they show signs of the infection, they will be told to see a doctor immediately. They won’t be allowed to go to school until they are no longer contagious with Pink eye infection.
Conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye, is a contagious eye problem that makes your eyes red, itchy, and watery. It spreads easily through direct or indirect contact, and schools are a place where it can easily pass from one person to another.
This school closure will affect all students up to matriculation classes. While the schools are closed, they will be cleaned and sanitized thoroughly to reduce the chances of the infection spreading.
According to the new updates, The Punjab Government School Education Department has issued the notification of closure of school due to Pink Eye infection.
In the wake of spread of Conjunctivitis / Pink Eye Infection among school kids, Competent Authority is pleased to announce that all Public & Private Schools of the Province shall remain closed from Thursday 28-09-2023 till Sunday 01-10-2023.
All schools shall reopen from Monday 02-10-2023 and shall observe the SOPs issued by this Department (copy enclosed) to curb the spread of Conjunctivitis / Pink Eye Infection.
