Government of the Punjab, Local Govt. & Community Development Department has issued the official Notification letter on 4th May, 2020 in connection with engagement of daily wage sanitary workers/sewermen for a period of 30 days for combating Covid-19 pandemic.
Please refer to this Department’s letter of even number dated 31-03-2020 on the subject noted above, whereby, the competent authority allowed engagement of daily wage Sanitary Workers/ Sewermen only for a period of 30 days w.e.f. 01-04-2020 to 30-04-2020.
Keeping in view the challenges being faced by the municipalities to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and for provision of better municipal services and carrying out effective disinfection exercises, the competent authority has been pleased to allow engagement of daily wage “Sanitary Workers/Sewermen only“, as per the following assigned limits, for a period of 30 days only:

The expenses for engaging the above mentioned daily wage workers shall be borne by the respective municipalities from their own budgets. The daily wage workers engaged for the purpose shall be relieved after a period of 30 days. The period of their engagement shall be from 01-05-2020 to 30-05-2020, and the ban shall again become applicable after such date, if not specifically extended in writing.
The Deputy Commissioners, as heads of the District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs), must ensure smooth provision of essential municipal services i.e. water supply, sewerage and solid waste management in their respective districts. Disinfection exercises at public places must continue as per instructions already conveyed to the filed formation.
