Hiring of Support Staff on Contingent Basis for Combating Pandemic CoronaVirus

Government of the Punjab, Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department has issued the official Notification letter on 27th March, 2020 in connection with hiring of support staff on contingent basis for combating pandemic CoronaVirus.

I am directed to refer to the subject noted above and to convey that in the wake of pandemic Coronovirus (COVID-19), the Provincial Cabinet Punjab in its meeting held on 24.03.2020 has accorded its gracious approval for hiring of support staff i.e. plumber, electrician, helpers etc on contingent basis, to operationalize COVID-19 related facilities in the Punjab.

l am therefore directed to request that the process for hiring of support staff against the vacant posts of following categories may be made on contingent basis, as per policy, at your own level, within three days positively:

i) Computer Operators

ii) Storekeepers

iii) Plumbers

iv) Electricians

v) Ward/Room Attendants

vi) Helpers

vii) Janitors / Sanitary Workers

viii) Security Guards

It is also clarified that all hiring against contingent paid staff shall be made against vacant posts of the above categories and shall be paid from the budgetary object code titled A01277 by HIRING THE SERVICES rather than making appointment against vacant posts and the offer letter must mention the work ‘HIRING OF SERVICES not APPOINTMENT.

The funds under the said object code can be demanded, if required, in the prescribed manner. However, such hiring on contingent basis shall strictly be for six months or till the pandemic situation is over, whichever is earlier.
