Provincial Assembly Secretariat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) has issued the official Notification letter on 17 October, 2019 in connection with initiative of KP Assembly to Phase-out Plastic Bags.

Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is committed to promote environmental sustainability in the province. In this regard, the Assembly in its session on 22nd July, 2019 unanimously passed a resolution on banning plastic bags. Drafted and moved by Members of the Environment Cluster of the SDGs Task Force of the Assembly, the resolution called upon the Provincial Government to take necessary measures to replace single-use plastic bags with those made with environment-friendly, biodegradable material.
To make further progress, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly under the leadership of honourable speaker with the support of UNDP is launching an initiative to ban the use of Plastic Bags in the Province and encourage the public to use alternative such as seed-infused paper bags etc. by distributing multiple-use, environment friendly bags. The launch event is scheduled for 22nd October at 10:30 am at the Jirgah Hall of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
