Maintain Quality in Early Childhood Education (ECE) in Schools

PESRP (Punjab Education Sector Reform Programme), Programme Monitoring & Implementation Unit (PMIU) has issued the official notification letter on 21st January, 2021 regarding to maintain Quality in Early Childhood Education (ECE) in schools to ensure quality care  with 5 key steps in Pakistan.

PESRP deploys Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant (MEAs) in the field to visit schools on a daily basis and record observation on adherence of SOPs and quality standards in all schools. MEAs record data on quality standards maintained in the ECE rooms in all schools as part of this routine.

Therefore, with reference to the instructions issued regarding Re-opening Of Educational Institutes in Punjab vide letter number SO(A-I) 1-31/2008(P-l). It is requested that necessary actions be taken to ensure that following ECE SOPs are maintained in all schools having ECE program;


5 Key Steps To Ensure Quality in Early Childhood Education in Schools 2021


  1. ECE class is conducted in an established ECE classroom
  2. Nominated (trained) ECE teacher is available
  3. ECE kit and ECE guides are available and are in use by the nominated (trained) ECE teacher
  4. ECE (trained) caregiver is available
  5. Progress of ECE children is discussed with the parents at least once a month

Training of ECE Teachers and Caregivers


Furthermore, training Of ECE teachers and caregivers is scheduled to be held in the month Of February. Therefore. please ensure that the process Of nominating ECE teachers and hiring of caregivers is initiated immediately so that their participation in the online training conducted by QAED is ensured.

It is requested that CEOs kindly intimate schools ta follow aforementioned SOPs and hire part time caregivers.
