Government of Pakistan Cabinet Secretariat, Establishment Division has issued official Notification letter on 29 December, 2016 regarding Section Officer promotional examination eligibility for Superintendents.
The undersigned is directed to refer to the subject cited above and to say that a query has been received in this Division about eligibility of Superintendents (BPS-17) for section officers promotional examination (SOPE).
It is clarified that grant of BPS-17 to Superintendents is not a promotion within the meaning of Section-9 of the Civil Servants Act,1973, therefore, all practical purposes, the Superintendents granted / placed in BPS-17 are the substantive holders of the post in BPS-16 and are eligible for taking SOPE subject to completion of all other conditions / codal formalities.
